He is also a former Dean of the School of Economics and Commerce of Assam University. He was Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Assam University during July 2009 to Feb, 2013. He was Registrar (in-charge) during October, 2011 to April 2015. He is the recipient of European Union’s Erusmus Mundus fellowship for visiting Goettingen University,
